Cantankerous

King Colin

HAVE YOU SEEN THIS NAUGHTY KING?

KNOWN FOR BEING: SILLY, DIRTY, SMELLY, GRUMPY, CRAZY, LAZY AND NAUGHTY!

King Colin

Age range: 3-8

Pages: 32

Illustrator: Steve Stone

Welcome to my world! People call me ‘cantankerous’ but I’m not sure what it means. Someone told me that it means grumpy, but surely they can’t call me that? Although I suppose I DO get a bit grumpy at times.

Because I’m King, I can do what I like most of the time. At least, that’s what I thought… Anyway, to find out a bit more about me, why don’t you read my book? I think I look rather good, don’t you? And look out for my friend, the little white mouse. You’ll see him on most of the pages…

“I bought this book for my 22-month-old girl after we watched Tom Hollander read the story on CBeebies 'Bedtime Stories'. Out of the 200+ books my daughter has, Cantankerous King Colin is certainly our favourite. It is ripe with silliness, replete with opportunities for theatricality and simply hilarious writing. I would recommend it to anyone.”

“A very good story and illustrations. My 5 yr grandson loves it.”

“Funny voices, a stroppy King and a lovely, lovely horse. Colin is dirty, smelly and naughty. What's not to love?! Defo one of my favourite kids’ books.”

“Funny, fantastic book. Made all generations laugh... Our daughter's favourite book.”

“A great read - will become a family favourite ...great for all those of us who love to do character voices when reading aloud!”

Others

“What a superb character! King Colin can do just what he likes… because he’s king. A hilarious story which children will adore – when they’re naughty, share this to defuse the situation!” – Parents in Touch

“This is a lovely book, full of bright, cheerful pictures and funny misdemeanours. Highly recommended” – Bookbag

“This funny, cautionary tale from debut children’s picture book author Phil Allcock will be a favourite with every mischievous child, and the unique illustrative style of Steve Stone, who excels in bold pictures full of expression and humour, has a special appeal for little children. A wonderfully anarchic story made just for sharing” – Lancashire Evening Post
